Online Donations Increase by 58% in 2004 (says Kintara)
If you're leaving web site updates on the backburner for now while you deal with current financial constraints, a recent study shows you may want to reconsider the decision and move your site farther up your strategic priority list.
Technology provider, Kintera, Inc. and Luth Research Inc. recently (6/16/05) released the results of their 2004 online donation survey which showed that online giving totaled over $3 billion last year (up 58% from 2003).
While the sampling of respondents for the survey seem small to me (about 3100 total), it certainly reinforces the view that, as a fund-raising vehicle, your Web presence is becoming more and more important and that your audience is becoming more and more comfortable with transacting charitable business online.
Combine the efficiency gains of processing online donations with the concept that online donors are typically giving larger dollar amounts than offline donors (according to the Kintara report), and it's tough to leave your site off of your immediate radar...
